draft Food Security Bill. The different
approaches range from targeting the poorest sections to begin
with or start with supplying 15kg per month to a household and
gradually increase it.

Food Bill: NAC Asserts Itself MINT, July 12
The
NAC asserts itself in rejecting the draft bill forcing the
Government to set up an Empowered Group of Minister (EGoM).
There are many facets which it needs to look at in its next meeting
on July 14. The new draft bill has proposed that the PDS
should shift towards a smart-card-based system that ties in with
Aadhaar, the government’s programme to provide a unique identity to
all residents. This would also tackle the issue of bogus
cards.
