The Cabinet approved amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Bill, 2005 pending in Rajya Sabha.

Bill to ease agony of rape victim this session

The government decided to introduce a Bill to amend the Criminal Procedure Code Act in the October session of Parliament.  The Bill seeks to ease the agony of rape victims by completing the trial in two months, having women judges hear cases, etc. 

Anti-money-laundering Bill introduced

The Prevention of Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2008 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha.  The Bill seeks to bring more businesses and activities under the ambit of anti-money laundering laws.

Bill set to make coal allotment transparent

The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2008 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha.  The Bill aims to remove the subjectivity surrounding the recommendations of the screening committee on coal block allotment.

The Bill for setting up the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) was passed by the Lok Sabha.  The prime objective of AERA is to create a level playing field and foster competition among all major airports, encourage investment in airport facilities, and regulate tariffs of aeronautical services.

Limited Liability Partnership Bill, 2008 passed by Rajya Sabha

Rajya Sabha has passed the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Bill, 2008.  LLP is a new corporate form that would give the benefits of limited liability but would allow its members the flexibility of organizing their internal structure as a partnership based on an agreement.
