The Appropriation Bill and the Finance Bill were passed today by Lok Sabha. This marks the end of the budgetary process for 2018-19.  Rajya Sabha has powers to only recommend changes as these two bills are money bills.

Both the Appropriation Bill (consolidation of Demands for Grants of Ministries) and the Finance Bill were passed without any discussion.

The expenditure under Union Budget this year is estimated to be around 24 lakh crores. The entire budget was guillotined i.e. voted upon without discussion.

The House adjourned soon after.

Rajya Sabha also saw disruptions and adjourned early for the day.
