PRS Legislative Research, in association with the Press Club of Sikkim organised a half-day workshop as part of its workshop series on tracking the work of legislators. The workshop was held at the premises of the Press Club in Gangtok.
The workshop familiarised the journalists with processes and resources that they could track on a regular basis when reporting on the work of their legislators. The participating journalists sought to draw distinctions between reporting on Parliament and reporting on the Legislative Assembly in Sikkim, enumerating the specific challenges they faced in the case of the latter. The availability of information in the public domain about the proceedings of the assembly was one such challenge that they listed at the workshop.
Along with pointing sources of information that journalists can use, the workshop provided a forum for participating journalists to discuss specific story
ideas that they would like to pursue.
