The Itanagar Press Club and PRS Legislative Research jointly organized a workshop as part of the PRS series on tracking the work of MPs and MLAs. The aim of the workshop was to inform journalists about the sources of information which are available and which can be used to track the work of legislators.
This was the second workshop organised by PRS in the Northeast. The workshop was held on July 01, 2009 at the Vivekananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital.
The journalists raised various concerns including the need to monitor the number of days that the Legislative Assembly meets; the need for MLAs to be familiarised with legislative procedures, and the larger issue of awareness generation among the people in the state.
The journalists communicated that they found the workshop extremely useful in terms of helping them gain familiarity with key legislative procedures. It also helped them focus on specific story ideas, and directing them to relevant resource points to help execute them.
