PRS Legislative Research conducted a day-long workshop for journalists in Hyderabad on tracking the work of MPs and their MLAs. This was organised in collaboration with the Hyderabad Press Club.
The workshop was organised to help journalists to develop new approaches to track the activities happening in Legislatures including passage of important laws, debates on policy, performance of individual MPs and MLAs of their state.
The PRS team structured the workshop into modules focusing on different facets that would help the political reporters in their work. The workshop focused on familiarising journalists with the legislative process to enable them to accurately report on and engage with Parliamentary activities in a more informed manner. It also worked to directing journalists to sources where information about the work of legislators can be accessed.
Above all, it focusing on how PRS can be a valuable resource base for journalists when covering issues in Parliament.
PRS also helped the journalists identify story ideas that they would like to pursue following the workshop.
